How to find a Telegram user ID
Your Telegram ID is a permanent number that bots, payment services and admin tools ask for. Open an ID bot below to get yours, or turn any ID into a profile link.
Get your ID in one tap: open a bot and press Start
What is a Telegram user ID?
Every Telegram account has a numeric ID that never changes, even when the name, username or phone number does. Bots use it to recognise you, admin tools use it to ban or whitelist people, and some services ask for it to link your account.
Your user ID is not secret in the way a password is, but it is personal. Share it with services you trust.
How to find your own user ID
- Open @userinfobot (or tap “Open bot” above).
- Press Start.
- The bot replies with your Id, which is the number you need.
On Web Telegram you can also open “Saved Messages” and read the number at the end of the address bar.
How to find someone else’s user ID
Forward any message they sent to @userinfobot or @RawDataBot. The bot shows the sender’s ID.
If the person has turned on forwarding privacy (“Forwarded Messages: Nobody”), the forward no longer carries their account and the bot can’t show the ID. In a group you manage, an ID bot or your own bot can still read the sender ID of messages posted in the group.
Bot and channel IDs
Bots have positive IDs like users. Forward a message from the bot, or check the first part of its token: a bot token starts with the bot’s ID before the colon. Channels and groups use negative IDs; see the chat ID finder.
Opening a profile from an ID
The tool above turns an ID into tg://user?id=…. Tapping it opens the profile in the Telegram app, but only if your app has “seen” that user before, for example in a shared group. Telegram does this on purpose so that IDs can’t be used to look up strangers. Bots can use the Markdown mention to tag a user by ID in a message.
